BAPTISM

BAPTISM PREPARATION AT IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH

We enter the church family and become children of God, with the Sacrament of Baptism.

Those desiring Baptism for their child must be participating and registered members of

Immaculate Conception Church. Parents are required to meet with a Baptismal Team Member for two interviews and upon approval of the Pastor the Baptism will be scheduled. 

BAPTISM CLASS SCHEDULED 

Baptism Classes are offered on Saturdays by appointments only (10:30 am to 1:00 pm), in the RCIA Office. Parents may bring their child. Parents are required to attend both classes before the Baptism. Paperwork must be completed one week before the first class meets.

Baptism interviews (1st & 2nd) and for anyone interested in RCIA or sacramental issues. These classes are 1 to 1 1/2 hour for initial baptism appointments and a 1/2 hour for 2nd baptism interview. Baptismal classes are held on the 1st Thursday of each month in classroom 1 from 7 pm to 9 pm.

Special Baptisms (not on the scheduled dates) are reserved for grave pastoral reasons

such as a child in danger of death or for a child whose parent is in the military and is being deployed.

Children over the age of 6 must attend RCIA for children.  The RCIA classes for children are held on Saturdays from 9 am - 10:15 am. The RCIA initial interview is scheduled for an hour.  Baptisms will be held on Easter Vigil Mass.

Godparents: One qualified person may be a godparent. The qualified person must be practicing his/her Catholic faith, have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation and if married, the marriage must be valid with the Church.

​

Baptism cannot be denied but can be delayed if the parents are not ready to assume their role in bringing up their child in the Catholic faith.

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED FOR BAPTISM OF CHILDREN:

Call the parish office to schedule a Saturday appointment  with one of our Baptism Coordinators.

​

Completed forms are to be returned to the Church office on the scheduled interview date.

 

Please bring a copy of the child's birth certificate for the Baptism file. 

​

Baptism will be scheduled after the forms are submitted and interview completed.

​

Parents are to attend both Baptism classes.

​

Scheduling the Baptism of the child will be determined by the pastor.

 

Baptism of adults is the first Sacrament of Initiation.
